Conservation is our Purpose & Passion

Working at the forefront of global conservation, we commit to helping save the world’s most endangered species. Furthermore, we believe the world has become a global village, and therefore, we should dissolve political boundaries as we unite to help save wildlife from extinction. Moreover, ever-increasing human populations all over the world threaten natural habitats; consequently, it is our task to help save wildlife species wherever suitable land and dedicated people are available.

“Saving our planet is within reach. We have worked out all the problems. We are working on all the solutions. Most of them we can do now. And, over time, all of them help the economy.
We have a plan – we know what to do – there is a path to sustainability.”
-Sir David Attenborough

A Legacy of Conservation Since 2000

Every predator species requires vast areas of pristine wilderness to survive. To help save any apex predator from extinction, thousands of hectares of land must be restored back to wildlife and carefully managed to maintain the balance between predator and prey species. The Re-Wilding project is dedicated to restoring natural ecosystems to their original balance—a wilderness where humans can once again connect with their natural heritage peacefully.

The Asian Tiger is one of the top ten most endangered animals on our planet. Tiger Canyon is an experimental ex-situ tiger conservation project that helps the global effort to save the species from extinction. With over 20 years of experience, we have successfully rewilded captive-born tigers to create a small population of self-sustaining tigers. This project is an example of how eco-tourism can support global wildlife conservation efforts.

The Cheetah is Africa’s most endangered big cat. Historically, they roamed vast grasslands and hunted herds of antelope. Known to be the fastest animal on earth, they can sprint up to 120km per hour and have an athlete’s appetite to support. Today, only 6,500 cheetahs remain in the wild. Kishindo is situated in the Free State province of South Africa, where cheetahs became extinct 100 years ago. This Project now has a successful breeding population of wild cheetahs on the reserve.

South Africa's best kept secret - a very special place My husband and I stayed at Kishindo Tiger Canyon for 3 nights and can honestly say it was the highlight of our South African holiday. The Lodge itself is small - only 3 rooms - but they are all large, with a huge bathroom and have amazing balconies overlooking the canyon. The hospitality is exemplary - being so small they can cater your meal timings, menu choices to your own choosing and the food itself is excellent. But what makes this place special, is the unparalleled access to magnificent big cats such as Tigers and Cheetahs - all of whom roam wild in this small reserve. The conservation aim of growing the wild Tiger population means that they have created 3 sections each with a dominant male Tiger, to avoid unnecessary killing. We always managed to find Tigers on each Game Drive we had into the reserve, and were also lucky enough to see their 1 white Tiger. This was down to our amazing guide Greg - whose relationship with some of the Cheetahs meant that we were able to get way closer than we would ever have dreamt possible. We have always wanted to see Tigers in the wild, and almost booked a trip to India to do so - but were concerned about reviews of chaotic game drives and poor chance of sightings. We stumbled on Kishindo Tiger Canyon by googling "best game reserves for Tigers" - and very happy we did. FYI Getting there - we flew to Bloemfontein and then got a taxi transfer to the reserve (a couple of hours drive)- but fellow guests hired cars and drove there without any problem.
